Ford Deal With UAW Close to Approval

The United Auto Workers' four-year contract with Ford(F) looks likely to be approved when voting ends Tuesday.

Workers at Ford's largest local in Dearborn, Mich., approved the deal Sunday with 62% of 5,282 workers voting in favor of the deal, while 90% of workers voting at an assembly plant in Kansas City gave the deal clearance.

The votes on Sunday bring the overall vote count to 62% in favor of the agreement, with 38% opposed, according to The Associated Press. Reports on Friday said the contract was in jeopardy of being voted down by a slim margin.Ford has 41,000 workers.Ford's deal is expected be more generous that one General Motors workers signed in September.
