Black Friday earned its name this year. Deals were everywhere, but consumers were so anxious to get their hands on discounted goods that many retailers — a good deal of them Wal-Mart(NYSE:WMT) stores — saw unheard of levels of violence. Pepper spraying and shootings signal that it might be time for online commerce — and its Cyber Monday — to replace the brick-and-mortar rush of Black Friday.
Which, of course, it has. In the past, most retailers emphasized in-store-only deals, leaving online-only retailers like Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) to strike the following week on Cyber Monday. But over time, traditional businesses have joined the online rush. In addition tooffering deals both offline and online on Black Friday, many retailers have been quick to embrace another chance to whip consumers into a deal-stirred friendly just a few days afterward. And, just like many retailers couldn’t wait until Friday, some companies couldn’t help but offer their Cyber Monday deals a little early.
Here’s a look at some of the best Cyber Monday electronics deals of 2011, including a couple you can find Sunday (and some that could last all week):
View All Nokia N8 Smartphone (Amazon)Cyber Monday’s arguable originator, Amazon, saved a couple of its big-ticket bargains for Monday. Chief among them is Nokia‘s (NYSE:NOK) N8 smartphone. Introduced in November 2010, the N8 was Nokia’s flagship device until it introduced the new Microsoft-powered(NASDAQ:MSFT) Lumia line. The N8 is a capable and well-reviewed smartphone that has been ignored by consumers first because they prefer brands like Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and second because of its ridiculous price of $549.
Amazon is giving the phone a second lease on life, offering an unlocked model for just $300. It can be used with any carrier that has a GSM network, such as AT&T (NYSE:T). That $250 haircut is a Cyber Monday deal worth logging on for.
View All $100 in Free Accessories With Sony Tablet S (Target)Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Apple’s iPad are the tablets of choice for consumers this holiday season, which means numerous competing devices are receiving heavy discounts.
Target (NYSE:TGT) isn’t giving Sony‘s (NYSE:SNE) Tablet S a markdown from its $500 price on Monday, but it is giving away almost every accoutrement available for the device with a purchase. An AC adapter, LCD screen protector and a charging cradle are included in the package. This Cyber Monday deal won’t save you money, but it will help you walk away with a slightly better value.
View All 42-inch Vizio LED HDTV (Vizio)Competitive pricing helped Vizio grow a tight grip on the HDTV market in the U.S. The private company has led the LCD television market for some time. Now that the high-end TV market is turning its attention to LED televisions, Vizio is aggressively moving to maintain its lead.
Vizio is offering solid discounts on its LED televisions directly. Its 42-inch LED HD television, which usually retails for $1,100, is discounted to $860 for Cyber Monday. (And, in fact, the television had been marked off already to celebrate Cyber Monday early.)
View All Sony NEX-5 Digital Camera (Sony)The proliferation of smartphones, like Apple’s iPhone 4S, that include cameras capable of shooting high-quality digital images has diminished some of the consumer market for devoted photography equipment. For devoted photographers, though, nothing beats a machine with high specifications.
Sony’s NEX-5 digital camera typically retails for $700. Through Cyber Monday, however, Sony is selling the camera directly through its Sony Style online store for just $500.
Xbox 360 Game Console With Games (Amazon)For anyone looking for a gaming machine this holiday that jumped the gun Friday, Amazon is offering a package on Monday that may induce buyer’s remorse.
The retailer is offering Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console with games Fable III and Halo Reach at a deep discount. The games and the system typically total $360 at retail, but they’ve been bundled together in one package available at retailers like Gamestop (NYSE:GME) for $300. Amazon will be selling this bundle on Cyber Monday for just $199.
