Ex-Heavyweight Champ Joe Frazier Dies

Joe Frazier, the former heavyweight boxing champion who clashed with Muhammad Ali three times in the ring, has died after a short battle with liver cancer. Frazier was 67.

Frazier defeated Ali in Madison Square Garden on March 8, 1971, in what was considered the Fight of the Century. He knocked Ali down with his classic, thundering left hook in the 15th round en route to a unanimous decision. It was the first loss for Ali.

The Philadelphia icon Frazier fought Ali two more times, including the storied 1975 "Thrilla in Manila," losing both fights.
